Srinagar 27 September: AIP President Er. Rasheed today called on Governor Mr. S. P. Malik at Raj Bhawan and expressed his deep concern and anguish over the new emerging trend of killing local militants and then burying them as foreigners, thus causing a huge trauma to the families of the slain militants. Er. Rasheed said that in all the cases where locals claimed the dead bodies to be their family members, after performing the DNA sampling their claims were found true, as such it is imperative on the security agencies to not bury the dead bodies in haste without ascertaining their original identity.
Er. Rasheed appealed Governor to intervene and direct the security agencies to handover the bodies of local militants who were killed in Bandipora area and later buried as foreign militants few days ago. Er. Rasheed said that burying militants without ascertaining their identity is immoral and violation of their religious and human rights.
Governor Mr. Malik assured Er. Rasheed that the necessary directions will be conveyed to security agencies about ensuring that the families of the militants should not be made to pass through the trauma after encounters. Asking Governor to ensure that police, army and other security agencies should be held accountable to uphold the human rights, Er. Rasheed quoted several examples of torture and atrocities on youth and relatives of the militants by the forces. Er. Rasheed urged Governor that targeting families of the militants should stop and government must respect the law of the land and uphold the right of every citizen to live with dignity and honor.
Er. Rasheed requested Governor Mr. Malik to convey central government about the feelings, sentiments, sacrifices and aspirations of people of J&K. Er. Rasheed also asked Governor to intervene and ensure the safety of Kashmiris students studying outside state and sought stern action against those who have beaten Kashmiri student from Kokernag to pulp in Punjab few days back.
He shared the concerns of common masses about the sanctity and credibility of conducting local body polls and reiterated his demand that these elections to Urban and Panchayat should be postponed till a conducive atmosphere is created and concerns of various political parties are addressed.
