Girls Model Higher Secondary Tral Lacks Basic Facilities, Students Suffer

TRAL: Students of Government girls model higher secondary school Tral, have expressed resentment against concerned authorities, for failing to provide them with basic facilities.

A delegation of students in the institute said that, they are lacking facilities like infrastructure, drainage, auditorium, alternative staff and facilities in laboratories, which is the matter of grave concern.

They said that due to lack of these things, students face a lot of problems as they are not able to study well, under these conditions.

“Our institute lacks facilities like alternative staff, auditorium, drainage and latest technology instruments and other things in labs, which gives tough time to students” Leesa Kar, a 12th class student said.

Leesa, further added that, presence of ‘chinar’ trees in school premises always pose threat on the students, which also need to be looked.

Another student, Fariqa Fayaz, said that they are facing huge inconveniences in the school due to the scarcity of alternative staff, auditorium and good spaced classrooms.

“The building of our institution is constructed decades back, almost at the time of its establishment, but no concrete step is being taken to modify it with new infrastructure, to mitigate student problems,” Fariqa said, adding that alternative staff and auditorium is also important in the school.

The students said that due to lack of auditorium, Annual day function was earlier postponed because of incessant rains.

They further said that only one teacher is available for each subject, with no alternative teacher in any subject.

“At the time, teacher of some subject stays at home due to some emergency, class work gets affected,” they said.

They demanded immediate redresal of all these problems as early as possible.

Chief Educational Officer, Pulwama, M.A. Salroo, when contacted, said that, they are going to construct a new building of three more rooms in the institute soon.

Contrary to student claims of having one teacher in one subject, Salroo said that sanctioned staff for every subject is only one, as ordered by higher ups.

When asked about auditorium and lack of facilities in laboratories, said that, it is up to higher ups where they will make auditorium and where not.

He however said that institute is getting ‘Science funds’ and there should be everything present in laboratories, and assured that he will inquire in this regard soon.
