Jammu and Kashmir Student’s Collective Condemns Brutal Assault on Kashmiri Student in Punjab

Srinagar, Sep 30: Jammu & Kashmir Students’ Collective condemns the brutal assault on Masroor Ahmad, a BBA student at AITM (Aadesh Institute of Technology and Management) who is a new entrant to this college, having arrived only a week before.

JKSC spoke to Masroor Ahmad over the phone, who revealed he  had gone to fetch water when some unknown persons hit the back of his head rendering him unconscious. This is not an isolated incident.

Spokesman said that Kashmiri students all over the country have been facing such attacks. Sometimes they become the target of leaders belonging to national parties who publicly invite lynching of Kashmiri students and go as far as putting up such hate-filled hoardings on national highways.

Such acts of ostracization of Kashmiri students are meant to scare them away from education by creating an environment of fear. These incidents are fuelled by hate-driven media coverage of Kashmiris by hyper-nationalistic Indian media and jingoistic Indian politicians. Unless they don’t stop their propaganda against Kashmiris, such incidents will be on rising, he said.

We request the college and Mohali police authorities to catch the culprits as soon as possible and give the Kashmiri students studying there a sense of security that has been deeply disturbed by this brutal attack.
