Jammu, Sep 12: A high alert was sounded in Katra area of Jammu Division after militants opened fire on a CRPF check post on Wednesday morning.

     Reports said that during a routine checking at a check post near the Jhajar Kotli police station, one gunman fired at the paramilitary trooper and fled into a lane nearby.

 The incident took place at around 8 am. Militants escaped from the scene after launching the attack.

   A police official said that at least one trooper was injured in the incident. He said there were at least four militants who had entered into the area in the truck coming from the Kashmir side.

   He added that an AK-47 rifle and 3 magazines were recovered from the truck. “The driver and the conductor of the truck, who didn’t escape were detained for questioning,” he said.

   A massive search operation was launched in the area; however, no contact with militants was established. (CNS)
