Srinagar, 28 September: Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik has been arrested by police today morning. A big police contingent cordoned his residence in wee hours of morning and took him in custody. He was immediately shifted to Kothibagh Police station.

Various JKLF leaders and activists also staged a peaceful protest against yesterday’s civilian killings, unrelenting CASO in south, north and central Kashmir, spree of arrests and slapping PSA on political activists and other gross human rights violations.

On JRL call, Leaders and activists of JKLF today visited various places of valley including Jamia Masjid Buchwara, Jamia Masjid Drugjan in Srinagar, Jamia Masjid Warpora Nasrullah Pora, Masjid Sharif Chadoora Budgam, addressed various gatherings at these places and urged people to stay away from upcoming municipality and Panchayat election drama as these were detrimental for the sacred cause of martyrs. A team of JKLF along with people from many walks of life gathered at Madina Chowk Lal Chowk today and staged a peaceful protest against yesterdays brutal killing of another Kashmiri innocent Muhammad Salim Malik at Noor Bagh Srinagar, spree of killings in whole Kashmir, unrelenting CASO across the valley, spree of arrests and slapping PSA on political activists and other oppressive operations by police and occupational forces. JKLF leaders Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Ghulam Muhammad Dar along with Meraj ud din Parray and others participated in this peaceful protest.

Meanwhile incarcerated chairman of JKLF Muhammad Yasin Malik while condemning the ongoing and unrelenting oppression in Kashmir has said that on one hand there are talks of so-called democracy, empowerment of masses in the name of Panchayat and Munciplaity elections and on other hand brutal killings of Kashmiris, CASO and crackdowns, spree of arrests, slapping PSA on political activists and shifting them to jails outside Kashmir and choking every peaceful dissent by military and police might has been enhanced by present ruling regime in Jammu Kashmir. Referring to the arrest of political leaders Shabir Ahmad Dar head chairman Muslim Conference(S), Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar spokesman of Hurriyat (G), Abdul Rashid Hakim of Hurriyat (G) and Assadullah Sheikh from JKLF as act of Hitlerism in the name of democracy, JKLF chairman said that all these arrested have been slapped with black law PSA and shifted to various jails in Jammu. He said that how can India and its local abettors claim democracy and non-violence when they have let loose a reign of terror against political dissent and peaceful resistance. He said that these arrested people are all ailing and despite this authorities have rushed to shift them to jails far away from their residences to inflict more harm to them and their families. JKLF chairman said that innocent killings are going on, beating and humiliating people under the garb of CASO has been expedited, use of black law PSA to cage down political dissent is at its peak and yet oppressors claim to be political and democrats. Irony is that oppression is going on in the name of democracy, suppressing peoples voices is on in the name of empowering people through municipality and Panchayats, added JKLF chairman. This actually is state terrorism under the garb of democracy and the perpetuators of this ugly politics shall know that their political gimmicks and hypocritical acts cannot change the reality and will never succeed in weakening people’s resistance against illegal occupation in Jammu Kashmir
