Srinagar, September 26: Apropos to our earlier press release regarding Sopore encounter, it is further informed that the other killed militant  has been identified as Abu Maaz of Pakistani origin who was operating as the top commander of LeT in North Kashmir.

He had a long history of criminal records since 2015.

He was involved in series of terror crimes in the area particularly in Sopore and Handwara. He was involved in several attacks on the Security Forces and killings of civilians in the area. Several cases were registered against him in different police stations across valley for his terror activities. Some of the prominent cases include firing on a civilian namely Tymur Ahmad Lone son of Mohammad Ayoub Lone resident of Thagund, Rafiabad on 09-09-2015 (FIR No. 55/2015 of P/S Dangiwacha), killing of Fayaz Ahmad Rather resident of Saidpora Rafiabad on 29-07-2016 (FIR No. 2838/2016 of P/S Sopore), grenade lobbing near TP Bank Sopore in which four cops got injured (FIR No. 143/2017 of P/S Sopore), killing of Arif Maqbool Sofi resident of Wahipora Handwara (FIR No. 02/2018 of P/S Bomai), killing of Mohammad Ashraf Mir resident of Harwan (FIR No. 37/2018 of P/S Bomai), terror attack on PP Langate (FIR No. 376/2016 of P/S Handwara), terror attack on Army convoy at Langate in which two Army Jawans got injured (FIR No. 353/2016 of P/S Handwara), terror attack on BSF convoy at Udipora Langate in two BSF Jawans got injured (FIR No. 438/2016 of P/S Handwara), terror attack on Army party at Hajin Handwara in which one Army officer got martyrdom (FIR No. 05/2017 of P/S Kralgund), terror attack on SPO Mohammad Altaf Khan son of Ghulam Ahmad resident of Hajin Handwara (FIR No. 63/2017 of P/S Kralgund) and killing of civilian namely Ghulam Nabi Khawaja son of Abdul Rahim resident of Kralgund Handwara ( FIR No 103/2017 of PS Kralgund).
