Kulgam Tragedy ‘Talib and Muqeem will miss examinations’

Kulgam  Oct 24: Thousands of people visited the families of seven budding youth who were killed on Sunday post a gunfight in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district as their fourth (chahrum) was observed on Wednesday.

Amid strict restrictions and shutdown, the mourners arrived in the native villages of slain including Luru, Shurat, Bogund, Makanpora, Hawoora and Reshipora.

Among the seven slain youth, Talib Maqbool Laway and Muhammad Muqueem were supposed to appear in their 1st year and class 12th examination. Talib, a resident of Luru was a BA first year student while Muhammad Muqeem of same village was a class 12th student. Talib is survived by mother and sister only as he was fatherless and had no brother. “We are finished and have no means to survive. Who will earn for us,” told the mother of Talib to news agency CNS as her wailing daughter was keenly looking at the clothes of her slain brother.

The relatives of slain Talib have decided to take care of mother and daughter. “We will definetly take care of them. This family has virtually finished but we will try our best to give respite to them,” said the neighbor of slain Talib.

Muhammad Muqeem’s mother said that her had prepared for his examination as was sure he will come off with flying colours. “Little did we know, Muqeem will leave this world and won’t appear in his examination,” she said.

Besides Talib and Muqeem, those killed on Sunday tragedy were Irshad of Shurat, Mansoor of Bogund, Tajamul of Makanpora, Uzair of Reshipora and Javaid of Hawourah.
