Kupwara, Oct 05: A Congress candidate from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday demanded shifting of a polling station of (Ward no 11) from the already existing place.
Rafiq Ahmad , a congress candidate from ward 11 of Kupwara town said that PDP and NC have fielded their proxy candidates from Kupwara.
“I was threatened by the local PDP workers as I am contesting the elections against the brother of a PDP leader and Member of Rajya Sabha (MP) Fayaz Ahmad Mir. The polling station is nearer to the residence of MP and I want the polling booth to be shifted from the place,” he said.
He said that his agents are also refusing to visit the polling booth in view of the threats. “I approached to the concerned Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara in this regard but he rejected the demands application copy is with us , saying it cannot be shifted to other place,” he said.
