ULB polls: Govt employee to contest civic polls from Bandipora town

Bandipora: In a bizarre state of affairs a government employee is going to contest Urban Local Body polls from Bandipora town in the upcoming polls.

Sources said that Mohammad Zafrullah Khan who is working as a contingent paid worker (CPW) in education department has filed his nomination papers to contest ULB polls.

He has going to contest the upcoming polls from Ward No. 11 in Kaloosa on behalf of the Congress party.

Meanwhile, residents of Ward No. 11 have submitted a representation to deputy commissioner Bandipora, objecting his candidature.

“The Congress candidate Mohammad Zafrullah Khan is working as CPW in education department from last 8 years. He has deceived the election authority by pressing the relevant information of his being a public servant, ” reads the representation

An official said that if anyone is working with any government department and is getting paid he cannot contest elections.

He said that if he wants to contest election he has to resign from the post.
