Ramban, Nov 5: Army along with Police and CRPF launched an operation to rescue over 200 civilians and 500 Security Forces’ personnel who were stranded in heavy snow near the Jawahar Tunnel, when the 270 km highway connecting Kashmir with rest of country was blocked due to heavy snowfall and multiple landslides,” Army said on Monday.

More than 50 vehicles travelling to Jammu were stranded on the highway between Lower Munda and Jawahar Tunnel due to unexpected and heavy snowfall of more than 3 feet.

Army’s rescue teams along with the CRPF and JKP facilitated clearing of the road by employing snow cutting dozers and shifted the stranded people to safe locations under hostile weather conditions.
