Srinagar, Nov 8: Commuters who use public transport in Shopian district of south Kashmir face immense difficulties as transport abruptly disappears from roads as soon as the sun sets.
The commuters from various routes complained that absence of passenger buses, sumos or mini-buses in evenings takes a heavy toll on them.
A large number of passengers including females and old aged people could be seen waiting at Bona Bazar sumo stand Shopian, hoping to get a public transport vehicle to carry them to their destination on Shopian- Zainapora road and Shopian- Harmain road.
The transport operators who shut their transport services early put commuters to endless sufferings at evening.
For nearly a month, evening transport has worsened as there is no certainty about the availability of transport.
“Today, I was waiting for more than two hours to board a sumo but to no avail,” said a passenger.
He alleged that the sumo drivers with the consent of Stand Incharge ply vehicles on those routes only where they are getting maximum fares, creating much trouble for the majority of passengers.”
