Top Army officer says Bijbhera encounter ‘major success’

Baramulla, Nov 23: The killing of six militants in the Bijbehara encounter was a “major success for security agencies,” Lt Gen AK Bhatt, GOC 15 corps said on Friday.

Talking to media on the sidelines of a function in Baramulla, the General said that the encounter was a “surgical operation and is a big achievement for security agencies” as there were no casualties of forces or civilians in this operation.

On Srinagar Hizb militants meeting, the army Commander said “we are verifying the facts whether meeting really took place or not.

The officer further said that these picture could be morphed or taken long before which has gone viral on social media.”Whosoever will join violence will be dealt with same manner as what has happened today”.

Gen AK Bhatt while prasing people of northern region of Kashmir said “people here always supported us to maintain peaceful environment”.

He said that to target civilians in this war is a big “weakness of militants”.

He said that since last 12 months we have killed militants in hundreds and this all indicates that we want a peaceful environment in the Kashmir so that people can live peacefully.

Bhatt said that earlier many girls were involved in the war but we want that women should not be used in this line.
