Srinagar, 07 Dec: Army today paid befitting tribute to Late Gunner Rajesh Kumar who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty fighting the enemy at Line of Control in Machil Sector of Kupwara district on 06 December 2018. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation. Representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the martyr.
Late Gunner Rajesh Kumar sustained bullet injuries during ceasefire Violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Machil sector. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries.
The martyr, Late Gunner Rajesh Kumar, was 25 years old and had joined the Army in 2013. He belonged to Village Rejua of Jalesar Tehsil in Etah District of Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his parents and wife.
The mortal remains of the martyr were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the martyr and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
