Jammu Dec 23: In its war against drugs spearheaded by DIG JKS Range Vivek Gupta IPS under operation “SANJEEVANI” Jammu police achieved a major success today.
In a random naka laid by SOG Jammu and police party from police station Nagrota, a major consignment of drugs was recovered which was being transported outside the state.
The naka party during random checking of vehicles signalled a Santro bearing registration number HP 11B /8700 to stop but the driver jumped the signal and ran away but was stopped by the naka party after a hot chase.
A comprehensive search of the vehicle was conducted and a cavity was found made at the rear side of the car. About 09 kgs of high grade CHARAS was recovered from the cavity. On further enquiry driver disclosed his identity as Mohd. Ayoub Malik s/o Ab Kareem Malik R/o Anantnag, who was arrested .
In this connection case FIR no. 319 /2018 under sec.8/20/21 NDPS Act stands registered and further investigation taken up to unearth the others involved in it and more arrest and recovery is expected. The whole operation was monitored and executed under the supervision of SP Operations Jammu and I/C SP Rural Sandeep Mehta.
The arrest of the accused and recovery of consignment was effected by SHO police station Nagrota Deepak Pathania under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma. Mr. Mehta has appealed the public to co-operate & strengthen the hands of Police to weed out the social evils from the society by providing inputs regarding the movement and activities of Narco-smugglers in their respective areas to Police.
