Srinagar, Dec 31: After the desecration attempt at Jamia Masjid on Friday, former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti Monday said that the Jamia Masjid and its pulpit were the important landmarks of the religion by and that ‘barbaric forces’ can’t be allowed to bring ‘bad-name’ to Islam.
Mehbooba in a tweet said that she called Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and conveyed her outrage on the incident that took place on Friday.
“Jama Masjid & it’s pulpit are most imp landmarks of our religious, cultural moorings. Can’t allow barbaric forces to defile it in the name of Islam,” she tweeted.
“Appearance of a few youth with IS flag in Jama Masjid Srinagar is desecration of the most important institution of Kashmir’s religious, social life. Called @MirwaizKashmir, Umar sahheb to convey my outrage,” she wrote in another tweet. (RNA)
