Budgam, Dec12: The Department of animal husbandry, Budgam has started campaign for vaccination under the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) programme to curb the foot and mouth disease among cattle on time.
Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is the perilous infectious disease that can affect animals and can result more loss in dairy sector.
The disease spreads due to presence of virus. The common symptoms of FMD disease among cattle’s are fever, mouth blister, weakness in legs, weight loss, and diminution in milk productivity.
When contacted concerned Chief Animal Husbandry Officer of district Budgam he says, the campaign was started on 10th November 2018 and will remain continue till 10th December 2018.
He states, under this programme, all cattle’s will be vaccinated with single dose during first attempt and after six months the department will start vaccinating second dose under same FMD programme.
The department has also informed the public through notice to cooperate with them to make this campaign successful.
