PHE daily rated workers demand pending salaries

Srinagar, Dec 25: The daily rated workers of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department Tuesday demanded regularization and release of their pending wages.

While addressing a press conference here in Srinagar, Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association president Sajad Ahmed Parrey castigated Government for not fulfilling their long pending demands.

He said that they have to face immense hardships without salary as it becomes difficult for them to bear the daily expenses. “Due to non-release of salary we are unable to bear the expenses of daily needs of our families,” he said.

Parrey said that Government has allocated huge sums of money in upcoming budget but for them nothing is there. “Rs 350 Crore has been allocated for Sport activities. New 40 colleges will be set up at the cost of Rs 250 Crore. But for us there is nothing,” he said.

He lamented that despite working tirelessly, their wages have been with held. “We have been working tirelessly for the department but unfortunately our wages are pending since last 2 years.”

He said that protest demonstrations will be held at every district headquarter from January 7 onwards if their demands are not fulfilled.
