Baramulla, Dec 21: Around 20 KM towards East from District head quarters Baramulla & 29 KM from State capital Srinagar,a sharp curve makes way to a remote village Sultanpora.
Sultanpora, a village sorrounded by the dense apple orchards situated in the north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, the village is famous for gold trade throughout the Valley from past decades.
The streets filled with well designed jewellery shops, the village which embellish the valley with gold.
On the evening the area witnesses the huge crowd usually that time the other distributors came to collect the stock from this main market for other shopkeepers who hath set their shops in the other far flung areas .
The people of the village usually doing business of gold and are earning good livelihood from this ornamental business.
The villagers followed gold business from their ancestors .Our forefathers were selling jewellery items while travelling far-flung places and door to door searches but they touch the heights of modern era we establishing impressive showrooms , shops across the valley said Ali Mohammad.
The village have also Shiite dominated area, according to local residents hundreds of shops spread across the valley, which is in itself a significant blow.
Once i was struggling to get government job that was my family’s wish but now this trade changed my fate and i achieved better from this business ,here scores of boys took part time job as they are continuing their studies at different levels said Iftikhar Ahmad.
He added that here most of the population have shops in Srinagar,Baramulla, Bandipora,Sumbal and other areas of the valley.
It’s one kind of great thing that youth are involving themselves in business ,it can give them relief and support once they get older and the other hand to be involved in mini business like this the youth generation would be away from any kind of conflicts if they continue showing their interest in it .
