Srinagar, Dec 22: State Congress General Secretry and Former MLA Bandipora Usman Majid has expressed grief over the tragic death of Kashmiri labourers in a landslide in Char Dham area of Uttarakhand. Majid described the deaths in the accident as unfortunate and tragic.
Majid said that, I am deeply anguished by the loss of lives due to the Landslide. My prayers and solidarity with those who lost their near and dear ones in the accident, he added. He prayed for the eternal peace to the departed souls and also for the patience of bereaved families. Majid also urged the Administration to provide adequate ex-gratia relief to the families of those who lost their lives and extend all possible assistance to those who got injured in the the Landslide.
Majid urged the J&K Governor to enhance the ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh each announced in favour of next of kin of the deceased. “In today’s time, Rs 2 lakh is a meagre amount and the Government must enhance it suitably. He also urged the Uttarakhand government to provide every possible support to the bereaved families to ensure immediate shifting of the bodies to their native places back in Kashmir.
