Srinagar, December 12: The congress party will emerge as the single largest party in the upcoming assembly elections, likely to be held in May 2019, the state congress chief, Ghulam Ahmad Mir said on Wednesday.
Mir according to KNO correspondent was addressing a presser in Srinagar. “So far there is no deliberation going on to join hands with other political parties to hold elections together or share seats,” Mir said.
“We are gearing up for the polls and at present there is no possibility of joining hands to go for polls together in the upcoming elections in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding that in Panchayat polls, Congress also did a tremendous job by sweeping maximum halqas in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
About the win of Congress in three states including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, Mir said that people were ready to answer the divisive politics of BJP who failed to fulfill the promises done with the people.
“Congress is the only party committed to establish religious plurality in the country and any party tending to divide the people in the country will have to face the fate BJP faced today in the five states,” he said.(KNO)
