SRINAGAR, Jan 7: “Major civilians, army, police personnel were killed, injured since 2004 to 2016-17 led by Omar and Mehbooba regimes,” Janta Dal United JD(U) State President G M Shaheen stated this while addressing a press conference at Rajbagh party headquarters on Monday.

Shaheen while addressing the media said, “From 2004 to 2014, the Congress-led UPA government was in power at the Centre while the Peoples’ Democratic Party-Congress alliance ruled Jammu and Kashmir from 2002 to 2008.”

“In 2008, the National Conference and the Congress formed a coalition government and chief minister Omar Abdullah remained at the helm till 2014 wherein around more than 100 innocent people were killed and limitless civilians were received serious injuries and most of them have lost their visions,” Shaheen  added.

Similarly, after the death of Burhan Wani during PDP-BJP coalition government headed by Mehbooba Mufti, more than 120 civilians, 3 soldiers, 2 police personnel including  more than 15000 civilians and 40000 security personnel were injured, he claimed and added that 8,587 were arrested and 1000 youth were detained.

“Militancy in Jammu and Kashmir has claimed a total of 41,000 lives in the past 27 years which means an average of 4 deaths per day in the state or 1519 casualties every year, according to the latest available government data,” he dislosed.
