Residents of several villages of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district including Trumnad, Budnambal, Chokibal, Kachama ,Afan Lolab and Moori Kalaroos complained that the district administration has failed to clear snow from main roads, let alone interiors. “Instead of snow clearance machines, JCB were pressed into service at some places, leading to more problems. The JCB’S cleared little snow and instead left behind slippery patches and potholes leading to accidents,” said residents of Lolab.
Residents of Kralpora Villages said that from the day it started snowing the students of the village were unable to go to tuitions.
“The road is still closed as it is covered with snow and if there is any contingency we cannot even hire a vehicle,” said another resident, adding that the concerned department owes an explanation to the people of the village.
