Delhi Court Directs Oman Air to reissue Tickets to Pilgrims traveling from Delhi to Tehran

DELHI, Fab 08: The Court of Ms. Nupur Gupta, Civil Judge, Delhi today directed Oman Air to reissue ticket to 16 pilgrims who had approached the Court seeking directions against Oman Air being aggrieved of unilateral decision of Oman Air to cancel all the discounted tickets sold by it during the Republic Day Sale.

During the period of 24thJan to 26thJan, Oman Air offered discounted tickets, on various web ticketing portals including www.ixigo.comandwww.cheaptickets.in,  from Delhi to Tehran on the occasion of Republic Day. Number of Shia Muslims who travel to Iran and Iraq on holy pilgrimage booked the tickets, finding the same to be reasonably discounted.

Few days after the sale of tickets Oman Air called upon the passengers who had booked the tickets under the Republic Day sale asking them to pay another Rs. 29000/- by 04.02.2019 else the tickets booked under the scheme shall be cancelled.

Aggrieved of the unreasonable conduct of the Airline the pilgrims, who had also made arrangement for travel to Delhi and stay in Tehran, 16 pilgrims from Srinagar, who had had their flights from Delhi from 08.02.2019 to 10.03.2019, yesterday approached the Court in Delhi through Advocate Uzma Ashraf and Advocate Amandeep Singh, praying to restrain Oman Air from cancelling the tickets and restraining the travelers from travelling on the confirmed tickets.

Yesterday, the Court of the Civil Judge, Delhi was pleased to takeup the matter on urgent basis and issued notice to Oman Air to appear before it today at 10:00 AM for the urgent hearing of the matter.

Today the Advocate for the Oman Air appeared in the Court apprised the Court that Oman Air has already canceled all the tickets issued under the discounted offer as the same were issued due to human error.

After detailed arguments, the Court directed Oman Air to reissue the tickets to the Sixteen Travelers who had approached the Court and as per the original schedule. Further the Court directed Oman Air to reissue and reschedule the tickets of five travelers who were supposed to fly today, but could not board the flights due to conduct of Oman Air.
