Militants killed in Budgam encounter identified, both locals

Budgam, February 13:  Two locals militants have been killed in the nocturnal gunfight that raged between militants and government forces in Wathoora area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.

Sources confided to KNO that the two miltants have been identified as Hilal Wani alias Abu Maaz, a resident of Munchew Yaripora Kulgam and Shoiab Morsi from Bumrath Okay Kulgam.
A police officer said that two dead bodies have been recovered.

Earlier a joint team of army and police launched cordon and search operation in Wathoora area after having specific input about presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter resulted in killing of two militants.

A police officer said that earlier at around 3 am there was brief exchange of fire, later cordon was tightened and fresh contact was established in which two militants were killed.(KNO)
