Baramulla, Feb 20: The drainage systems in Sultanpora village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla are in alarming mode, with the continuous snowfall in winter and raining water remains stagnant on roads for long time makes the life of villagers miserable.

In winter days light rain turned the roads into muddy and full of water which made difficulties for commuters, students and especially patients in whole day to travel said a local Gh Mohammad Ganie.
The wasted water used to drained straight into the drains but now with the rise in population the drainage cannals gets jammed with the sewage usually in harsh winter days , By the over amount of liquids and the sewage which leads the blockage of drainage system ends with the flow on the local streets .
The drainages not have been cleaned since years as we villagers everyday manage ourselves to hold waste things and clean it by own said a resident Gh Hassan pujjoo.
The drainage is fully clogged and now the raining water is on the roads the locals are aghast by its harmful effects as 3 kids were drowned in it yesterday, however with the help of neighbour lady they were rescued at the time said Ali Mohammad Dar.
The stagnant water on roads, some houses especially Religious Maktab were partially submerged in water he adds.
Through this the villagers movement went off whole day and on Namaz timings we hardly manage to cross the watery road to offer namaz in our Masjid said Haji Mohammad Bakar.
We need well-defined channels through which the wasted water could be drained into trunches So that our village might be safe from these incidents Said Ghulam Ahmad.
The drains could be very wide if authorities look into the matter. There is too much vacancy to enlarge the drainage system he adds.
Days before SDM Pattan assured us that it will be solve within days but till no step was taken by the authorities said Abdul Majeed a resident.
We need authorities attention to look into the matter as earlier as possible so that our village would be incident free and without miseries !
When contacted to SDM Pattan he said that due to rains the water is over on the roads and we took the matter with BDO also, we solve the problem as soon as we could.
