Day after smugglers’ hideout busted in Kupwara
Srinagar, March 14: Four officials were suspended Thursday a day after Forest Protection Force (FPF) South Lolab range busted a hideout and seized huge cache of illicit timber.
An official told GNS that four officials including Block Forest Officer, Khazir Mohammad, Beat Guard Firdous Ahmad, Additional Beat Guard Mohd Ashraf and a watcher were suspended from duty following the busting of the hideout.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Kamraj confirmed to GNS about the suspension of four officials and said that they have been attached to Kandi Sopore.
“So far the employees have found dereliction and negligence of duties and nothing concrete of their involvement into their alleged nexus with timber smugglers,” the DFO said.
As first reported by GNS on Wednesday, Forest Protection Force (FPF) had busted a hideout of smugglers and seized a huge quantity of illicit timber in Lolab forests of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Assistant Director Forest Protection Force Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh had told GNS that acting on a specific information, the sleuths of FPF raided compartment 68 of Warnow in South Lolab Range.
