Srinagar, Mar 30: Soon after joining Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jammu, the former congress leader Sham Lal Sharma on Saturday said that the Kashmir is not a political problem but the situation created in Jammu and Kashmir was manmade disaster made by the people of Kashmir.
Sharma joined BJP today in Jammu in presence of party in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir Avinash Rai Khanna, its state president Ravinder Raina, former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, Nirmal Singh and Sat Sharma.
As per Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, addressing a presser after joining BJP formally, Sharma said that over 20000 workers and other leaders have joined BJP with him today.
Sharma said that “in the upcoming polls, Jammu people must give a befitting reply to Kashmir centric parties who have challenged our honour.”
He said that he doesn’t believe that Kashmir was a political issue but the situation created in Jammu and Kashmir was manmade disaster created by the people of Kashmir.
Sharma further told reporters that he will work in BJP with honesty.
He added that BJP believes in equal development in all the three divisions, saying that Jammu was ignored by the successive regimes here and any development in Jammu was done after a lot of struggle.
Meanwhile, talking to KNS, Sharma said the present Congress is not the one he has worked with but it has been hijacked by some people, saying that the party is shrinking across the India.
About leaving Congress and joining BJP, Sharma said state Congress has become dependent on regional parties, adding that BJP is a national party and keeping in view of its performance, he has decided to join the party.
About elections, he said that he believe the people will support the BJP again in Jammu
