Doda, March 18: One day Kissan Mela-Cum-Agricultural Exhibition organised by Agriculture Department under ATMA scheme at Community hall Doda.
Deputy Commissioner Doda Dr Sagar D. Doifode-IAS was also present in the function. Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Department, District Agriculture Officer, District Soil Conservation Officer, Chief Sheep Husbandry Officer including many other district heads and large gathering of farmers took part in the mela.
DDC Doda inspected the stalls of items displayed by the various departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and Sericulture and other line departments.
Speaking on the occasion, said that Department is working on people-friendly policies for overall development and up-lift of poor and weaker sections of the society. He assured the farmers for timely supply of hybrid quality of seeds and fertilisers at their door steps. DDC besides focussing on diversification of cultivation, appealed the farmers for adopting modern techniques of agriculture and horticulture in order to yield high quality and quantity of production. He also stressed on bringing local water resources under the ambit of irrigation.
Chief Agriculture Officer Doda Sunil Koul highlighted various ongoing schemes and programmes like availability of subsidised seeds, restoration of damaged irrigation canals, intensification of organic farming, establishment of bio gas units, and work for introducing Prime Minister Krishi Sanchai Yojana and pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana in the district. He said Agriculture department is organising such camps at block and tehsil level also on every season.
