Shopian, March 22: After initial exchange of fire between government forces and militants in Gadipora Ratnipora area of Shopian no fresh contact was established.
Local sources told KNO that they heard firing at around 2:30 am and it continued for about half an hour.
Official sources also confirmed to KNO that searches are on in the area and no fresh contact has been established yet.
We have inputs about the presence of two to three militants in the area and more reinforcement has been rushed to the spot, they said.
Earlier on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a joint team of forces including 34 RR and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police launched search operation in the area.
On intensifying search operation towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon forces which was retailated triggered encounter.
