Pulwama, April 21: A day long cultural convention was organized by the Gojri Majlis-Adab in collaboration with Government Degree College Tral here in South Kashmir on Sunday.
A large gathering including prominent Gojri writers, poets, teachers, students, artists besides other dignitaries drawn from different areas of Tral participated in this event.
Veteran Gojri activist and president Gojri Majlis-i-Adab Tral, Mohammad Ibrahim Khaksaar presided over the function while Professor Ishaq Wani of GDC Tral, Master Ishaq Trali, Advocate Zakir Hussain, Master Mohammad Altaf Chowhan, Master Fayaz Ahmad and others were in the presidium.
The gujjar speakers stated that Gojri is one of the richest languages of the State in terms of its folk-lore and literature.
They stressed upon the tribal students of Tral to work unanimously and jointly for recognition of Gojri culture and language.
Speaking on the dice, President Mohammad Ibrahim Khaksaar has said that Gojar society has done remarkable progress in Tral during last few years with hard work and dedication.
He said that Majalis-i-Adab organisation is trying their best to uplift the gujjar culture and language in the area.
Meabwhile, Professor Ishaq Ahmad Wani of GDC Tral, in his speech, has also applauded the progress of Gujjar community in past years and inspired them for doing better in future to meet their needs and aspirations.
A cultural programme and award ceremony was also organized in the end of programme where participants who performed on the stage were awarded with the certificates.
On that occasion, President Mohammad Ibrahim Khaksaar presented vote of thanks to all the participants & guests.
