Srinagar, April 19: The acting chairman of JKLF, Abdul Hameed Butt in a statement issued from the party headquarters Maqbool Manzil while hailing people of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal for their rejection of Indian elections yesterday. Butt sb said that Srinagar being the Capital of Jammu Kashmir (JK) State has always stood with the resistance and despite all odds, arrest spree, restrictions, luring, intimidations and political engineering; the people of Kashmir have once again displayed their unequivocal support for the cause of freedom of their motherland. He said Indian Prime Minister Mr. Modi has been claiming that Kashmiri resistance is confined to two and a half districts of JK only. Yesterday’s boycott of elections by an overwhelming majority of Kashmiris is a befitting reply to the Indian PM and should serve as an eye opener for Indian policy makers and for the international community as well, asserted Mr. Butt. He said that although Indian democracy in the last few months enhanced its state terrorism in Kashmir enormously, banned JKLF like political organization and in fact hand cuffed the whole resistance camp, butt despite all this people of Kashmir rejected Indian hegemony by boycotting the polls and reiterated the will and wish and the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
Acting chairman said that Kashmiris believe in democracy, but when the same is used to deny a nation its democratic right of self-determination and right of freedom, then people are left with no choice but to reject and boycott such farcical elections being managed, engineered and dramatized in the name of democracy. While expressing his hope the acting chairman of JKLF said that International community will come of its slumber one day and pay attention towards the deteriorating situation in JK and use its good offices to resolve the Kashmir issue as per the aspirations of the people of the State.
