Pulwama, April 05: Residents of Hari-Parigam in Awantipora area of Pulwama staged a protest demonstration on Friday as they continue to suffer over delay in work at “Watal Ara” bridge at their locality, “for last four years.”
The residents said that, tender for constructing the bridge was alloted “four years back” and the work was also started by the roads and buildings (R&B) department but “is yet to be completed.”
Owing to lack of alternative communication facility, residents of the area are unable to travel to nearby areas.
A temporary bridge near the under-construction one is the sole mode of communication for the residents, which is also collapsed these days, putting residents in mess.
“The residents of the locality have been suffering for the last four years with R&B department remains a mute spectator till the date,” protesters said, adding that people face difficulties during emergencies.
Chanting anti-R&B slogans, the residents have appealed chief engineer R&B to look into the matter as soon as possible.
