An open letter to the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir

Hon’ble Governor
Jammu and Kashmir
Mr. Satya Pal Malik

Respected Sir,

Myself Asif Zargar, a Kashmir based socio-political activist. I work for the betterment and welfare of people particularly of my area Downtown Srinagar and for the people of whole Kashmir in general. I served Youth District Secretary Srinagar for National Conference aimed at welfare of people. I always tend to contribute on local level to ease out routine grievances. Today, I am writing to your good self to bring in your notice a serious issue of my society concerned with the future of youth.
Esteemed Sir, a large number of youth from downtown Srinagar are behind the bars for obvious reasons following the political uncertainty. I realize that the roads that lead them to the jails are violent and extreme, that will not prosper their lives and will not help in bringing the resolution of lingering Kashmir issue.
However, I believe, in largest democracy, there should be some scope of chance, particularly when it comes to the career and future of youth. I firmly believe that all the incarcerated youth deserve a chance to make their lives better and prosperous. And I am myself an example of it.
Your good self being the head of all affairs in Jammu and Kashmir, I request you for positive action in this direction on priority as a goodwill gesture so that the youth are released and giving a chance to built their career and future.
Besides, as a youth, I would love to see your good self to reconsider the extreme decisions like ban on Jamat-e-Islami, NIA raids, highway-ban which on ground actually not rectifying the situation and circumstances of Kashmir. As I youth I observe that such steps fill more aggression in the minds of people and hence intensifies the condition.
I am of the opinion, Kashmir deserves peace and peace needs to be given a chance from the roots to the end. I hope that your good self will acknowledge my request and will take note of these issues.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours sincerely
Asif Zargar
