Srinagar, May 14: Those who tried to stoke a communal divide over the heart-wrenching incident of Sumbal, Bandipora were given a hard slap by the people of Kashmir including Sikh community. People from Uri to Qazigund rallied behind the 3-year-old innocent child of Bandipora and urged the establishment to give a stern and deterrent punishment to the culprit. The protesters sent out the message loud & clear that this is not a sect-based crime but crime against all humanity.

The protests were held in a democratic and peaceful way in every district of Kashmir valley where thousands of people including students, women and children participated and that too while observing fast in this holy month of Ramazan. Some private schools also organized peaceful protest rallies where young students expressed their anger against the culprit. Besides, professional institutes and colleges also registered their protest against the culprit. This is the beauty of Kashmir. People do share sufferings and miseries with each other.

Unfortunately, at some places miscreants indulged in violence and damaged the property and ambulances which is very despicable and should not have happened. But overall, protests were peaceful throughout the valley.

For those who tried to give a communal colour to this ghastly crime should follow the social media and look at the protest rallies which were taken against this gruesome crime in Handwara, Kupwara, Lolab, Sogam, Baramulla, Langate Sopore, Pulwama, Shopian, Awantipora, Kulgam, Kangan, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Srinagar and in various educational institutes of the valley. Everyone irrespective of caste, creed, colour or religion was shouting “Justice for 3-year-old child of Bandipora” and “Hang the culprit”.
