Frequent power cuts torment the devout this Ramazan

Doda, May 09: Residents of Chenab Valley particularly Doda region have left the devotes in lurch in the holy month of Ramazan.

We have seen every year, during the holy month of Ramazan, pesky power cuts gets difficult the Muslim community entire Chenab region. Instead of ensuring regular power supply during the holy month, the power development department is restoring to forced cuts especially during “Sehri and Iftar time. During Sehri, Iftar and Tarawi time, the power cuts have become more frequent since last two days reported from various area of Chenab valley included Doda, Bhaderwah, Marmat, Chiralla, Dessa, Saroor and many other parts, caused major inconvenience as it is also the month of Ramazan.

Talking to Chenab Times, Locals of these areas said that, the devout visiting the mosques for evening prayers and Sheri are facing difficulty due to frequent power cuts, the PDD employees is not working fairly, a local resident of Doda Feroz said.

Bhaderwah areas do not have power during the evening and morning as well as some area are without electricity since many days. Residents said the long power cuts during Ramzan season were leaving them exhausted, as they are also fasting. Power being supplied to Bhaderwah through old and rotten poles from Pul-Doda in this modern era and so called leaders had done nothing to upgrade the power system of bhaderwah only played vote bank politics yo befool public. They demanded to release amount for the restoration of 33KV line and installation of towers from Pul-Doda to Bhaderwah to PDD, Majid Malik said.

Drabshalla, large area with a population of atleast more than 10 thousand are suffering as common masses of three panchayats in tehsil Drabshalla are living in darkness without any reason, power supply remains suspended always and the reason behind it is disconnecting of power line due faults in general line but the employees of PDD ate not taking the matter seriously, Mohd Ashfaq said. Similar is the condition of whole Marmat tehsil reeling under complete darkness, in a meeting Marmat Development Forum team said if power supply will not regularly supplied from tomorrow, people will go on strike and the department will responsible for any inconvenience.
