Yet again in Kashmir. A modesty of a 3-year-old girl was outraged by a 25-year-old beast (yes, he don’t deserve to be called a human). He has done which was never heard in Kashmir. He has brought disgrace to whole valley. The crime was unimaginable in Kashmir but it has happened now. It has happened after the horrific crime where a girl ended her life following the continuous sexual assault by her father in district Bandipora.
We as humans have failed. Who will protect our daughters, sisters when our own people have become predators? Where will our sisters and daughters take refuge when the trusted saviours have turned lecherous. Don’t our daughters and sisters have right to live a dignified life? Why we make their lives hell by our lustful desires. Why we make them toys for our sexual pleasures?
We have to change our society. We can’t blame everything on establishment. Let’s start from our own selves. Let’s ponder how these things have started creeping in our society. As we are engulfed by the obscene and salacious content which is transmitted to us through our smartphones with freebies from mobile service providers. This is one of the main factors the devilish character have found its place in our psyche. How can we save ourselves from the disaster which has come with the latest technology?
Sermons and speeches won’t change us, until and unless we do a thorough introspection and do struggle against our inner evil. Then only, we can make change in ourselves and the society in particular.
The heart-wrenching and gruesome sexual assault of a 3-year-old innocent child was by condemned by one and all irrespective of caste, creed, colour or religion. Even the government establishment have taken a serious note of it. Culprit has been arrested including the principal who forged his date-of-birth. Law will take its own course. Medical experts will do their job to find the real age of the culprit. InshaAllah, guilty will be given stern punishment.
There is no issue if people protest peacefully to denounce the ghastly act but no one should be allowed to indulge in any sort of violence. If any protest harms the common citizens then its loses its significance. There are some elements in our society who use every tragic incident for their own vested interests. They always look for opportunities to stoke sectarian rifts. We should always remain vigilant about it.
No religion defends the horrendous act which took place in Bandipora. Every religion is condemning it. So while people are protesting against the culprit, there is no need to raise the religious slogans of any sect. This was not a sect based crime. It was a crime against humanity. So it will be worthwhile if we abstain from chanting religious slogans in our protests. The perpetrator of this harrowing crime has no religion. It was deplored by both Shias and Sunnis. So, don’t make it a sectarian crime, only then the innocent rape victim Bandipora will get justice.
