Budgam, May 12: A complete shutdown was being observed in Magam town of central Kashmir’s Budgam distric on Sunday to demand punishment to the person involved in rape of a minor.
All shops and business establishments remain closed in the town while traffic movement remained disturbed for some time.
During shutdown, hundreds of local took out a protest demonstration to demand strong punishment to the person involved in rape of a three year old girl. The protestors later moved towards Srinagar-Gulmarg road due to which traffic movement remained halted for some time.
The protestors demanded strong punishment to the person involved in the rape. The protestors were seen holding poster that carried demands and messages like “Girls are not toys”, “Hang the culprit”, “Justice for victim”. The protestors were heard shouting slogans like “Justice for victim”, “End rape Culture”, “Hang the rapist”.
It’s pertinent to mention here that, a three year old girl was raped by a man in Malikpora area of Sumbal in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The police yesterday formed a SIT to investigate the case. Police said that it has arrested the accused and further investigation is on.
