Southern district shut to mourn killing of three militants

Srinagar, May 4: A complete shutdown was observed in twin district of South Kashmir on Saturday against the killing of three militants at Adkhara village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

   All shops and other commercial establishments remained closed in the districts of Shopian and Pulwama while public transport also remained off the roads.

   Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants identified including top commander as Lateef Ahmad Dar alias Tiger of Dogripora Pulwama, were killed in an early morning encounter with forces in Imam Sahib village on Friday.

   Reports said that people in large numbers from the Shopian, Pulwama and its neighboring districts visited the houses of the militants to offer condolences to the families.

  Heavy contingents of government forces were deployed at sensitive locations in the districts to maintain law and order.
