Srinagar, June 03: Former legislator Nizamuddin Bhat has appealed Governor to release wages of all daily wagers, casual labour ad-hoc and contractual appointees on Eid eve.
Bhat said that denying sustenance or earnings to the labour class and contributors in public work is against the concept of public good, ethics and welfare.
He said thousands of casual labour and need-based workers were expecting to get regularisation in an aknowlegement of their toil and investments. “But the uncertainty about getting the dues will deprive poor families of Festival pleasure.”
Bhat said central government is taking dozens of people-friendly measures benefitting farmers, students, labour class and the needy in terms of providing financial assistance and employment avenues. “It will be against national policy and larger state intentions to deny assistance and support to workers with clathe im.”
Bhat hoped that Governor will feel personally concerned to reach out to those who are on the payroll of various departments and have a legitimate claim.
He said it is the lawful duty of all departments to ensure that their workers do not get let down on an occasion which otherwise warrants generosity and benevolence.
