Kulgam, June 24 : In an exemplary display of honesty, a sumo driver returned a bag containing cash and other items to a tourist family who had lost it near Aharbal waterfall in Kulgam district, here on Monday.
The driver was identified as Tariq Ahmad Naikoo son of Ali Mohammad Naikoo from south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Ghulam Mohammad, a tourist from Bopal along with his family toured to Aharbal, also known as “Niagara Falls of Kashmir”, is a hill station in the south-western part of Kashmir Valley, from where the family on Friday went to Waterfall, where they lost a bag containing a good amount of money and some other items including three mobile phones.
Tariq while talking with FK on phone he told “I was on the way back from Aharbal and on the mean time I found a bag which contain three mobile phones, two pouches with bundle of notes and ornaments i turned all the way back to return the items to the tourists.
Aabid Ahmad Deva, another sumo driver told FK that “Tariq is a very humble, honest and hardworking personality. Everyone among our community likes him.”
However, within a couple of hours, a sumo driver approached the family and returned the bag that he had found, he added.
He added that Kashmir is known for its hospitality around the world and Tariq has proven it once again.
The tourists were happy to get back their bag and hailed the driver for this gesture.
Meanwhile, in an another incident fifty lakh rupees have been stolen from the safe of Gulmarg Gandola yesterday evening.
