Pays glowing tributes to party stalwarts
Srinagar, 10 June: Jammu and Kashmir National conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah on Monday paid glowing tributes to party veterans Kwaja Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Shah and Mirza Muhammad Afzal Beg on their death anniversaries.
Paying rich tribute to its senior leaders Muhammad Afzal Beg and Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah on their death anniversaries, the National Conference president called them “pillars of the party who stood by Sher-e-Kashmir in his struggle against the despotic rule and socio-political emancipation of the people of Kashmir”.
Party vice president while paying glowing tributes to the veterans said, “I take this opportunity to pay my glowing tributes to the veteran party leaders. I pray to almighty for peace to their soul. Their service and sacrifice for the people shall be remembered for all the times to come.”
A commemorative function was also held at party head quarters where glowing tributes were paid to the party veterans. The function which was held at NC headquarters at Nawa-e-Subh complex was attended by large number of party men including senior leaders.
Addressing the gathering party general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar said, “Both the leaders withstood the hardships with Sher-e-Kashmir. On this day I pay my glowing tributes to the leaders.”
“They worked for the cause of autonomy and protection of legal rights of people.They even sacrificed their power for the benefit of people,” he added.
