Uri, July 24: Four days after his drowning, authorities on Wednesday afternoon retrieved body of an 18-year-old youth from river Jehlum in Uri of north-Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Reports reaching GNS said that body of the youth was fished out from a dam at Uri power project, second phase in the district.
The youth had drowned in Jehlum on Sunday last while taking bath in the river.
Soon after retrieval, the body was taken to Sub District hospital Uri where the deceased was been identified as Momin Manzoor son of Manzoor Ahmed of Jallsheeri, reports said.
A police official has confirmed the retrieval of the body and said that after legal formalities, the body will be handed over to family for last rites.
Meanwhile authorities in a joint operation with locals, also retrieved body of a 16-year-old female from the river earlier in the day.
The girl was identified was Rubeena Bano daughter of Mohammad Anwar Shah, a resident of Dachi village, who according to reports, had slipped and drowned in the river on Tuesday while grazing the cattle.
