Tral, July 03: Govt has laid the foundation stone for the construction of pastuna_khrew road in tral area of pulwama district after people of catchment areas have aimed to create connectivity from upper reaches of Eastern part to northern part.
The work has been stalled due to unknown reasons and after consulting concerned departments they have complete negation. The aim of this road was to revive the mughal road along the foot hills of vasturvan forests can open the doors of tourism and increase the connectivity. This 10km road estimated at a cost of 16 crore connects the tral area with khrew pompore.
The eight to ten kilometer stretch-estimated at a cost of around 14 crore rupees- is supposed to connect the Pastoona area in Tral to Wahab Sahab Shar in Pampore of Pulwama district.
The road will be a revival of a Mughal era track cutting the travelling time from Tral to Srinagar by around 45 minutes.
Besides, the road can be a major tourist attraction for it cuts through the thick, picturesque Vastoorvan forest cover.
The customary foundation stone to the project was laid, amid much fanfare, by the Tral MLA, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, around 5 years ago.
“R&B department only pinned the hope that the project will be completed within two or three years, but almost 5 years passed, and authority is playing hide and seek with us”, said by Writer and Columnist Sheikh Arshid Ahmad and when interacted with locals they have equally responded.
The road passes through vasturvan forests and the forest department is showing reluctance in clearing the forest. Department has failed to provide clearance to R&B department, however after the completion of one km, the forest officials stopped the work”, locals added.
Locals of the area said that “the road would serve as an alternative to nearly 50 villages of tral town. It will save our time and money. The road will byepass the congested tral and connects the upper villages of tral to khrew pompore.
The work which was started shortly after laying of the foundation stone but was stopped soon and never resumed, thereafter”.
“only a Kilometer of the track was constructed soon after laying the stone almost 5 years back and then the work was abandoned”.
Meanwhile , Mr. Zahoor Ahmad , AEE R&B subdivision Tral , when contacted he told that forest department is not showing any sign of positivity of Forest Clearance .His response to the issue also vindicates the claims of the forest department.
“How can we submit an indent unless the work gets sanctioned to us under an appropriate head,” said Zahoor Ahmad.
