Srinagar, July 24: The private school association on Wednesday has appealed authorities to extend summer vacations in view of the weather forecast which shows that upcoming days are going to be warmer and humid.
The Private Schools Association Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) in a statement has urged authorities to extend the summer vacations for some mode days as the forecast provided by MeT department is showing rise in heat and humidity in upcoming days. As per the association, it will be unbearable for students to attend school in these warm days as most of the schools have no cooling arrangements and lack basic facilities.
While talking to Press, many parents demanded extension of summer vacations as least for a week as according to them, the heat wave is unbearable for their children.“The authorities should extend summer vacations for at least a week as the MeT department has predicted the higher temperature and humidity in coming days.” said Shakeel, a parent of 7th class students.
While showing anger against the Secretary of School Education Department, Surita Chauhan’s statement, a group of parent said, “The officials themselves are sitting in AC rooms and comfortable sofas and they don’t know anything about the ground situation. They should at first think about the students who have to stay in classrooms for hours without any cooling arrangements before giving such statements.”
Earlier this day, Secretary of School Education Kashmir said that there will be no extension in summer vacations.
