Pulwama, July 31, KNT: Locals from a Pulwama village here in South Kashmir are up in arms against the Education Department.
Education Department recently shifted Primary School located in Chandgam to Nownagri village. This move has angered the parents who on Wednesday staged a protest against Zonal Education Officer.
“Over 50 students of our Chandgam village were enrolled in this Primary School. Education Department without taking us on board handed over this Primary School building to Vishwa Vidyalay run by Army and asked our children to attend the school at Nownagri village,” the locals told Kashmir News Trust.
Chief Education Officer Pulwama told KNT that it is a temporary arrangement. “We have given the possession of building to Vishwa Vidyalaya for couple of months only and Primary School will shortly function there again,” he said and added that Vishwa Vidyalaya is a centrally sponsored education centre that will benefit whole district.
