Residential houses damaged, civilians being rescued to safer places
Tangdhar, Feb 03 (KNO): An elderly man was killed while several others sustained injuries after Pakistan allegedly resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector in Kupwara district on Monday evening, officials said.
According to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an official said that this evening at around 6 pm, Pakistani rangers restored to unprovoked ceasefire violation along the line of control at Tadd sector Tangdhar, targeting the forward posts of Army’s 2 Jatt and 17 Bihar.
Divulging the details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Shriram Ambarkar told KNO that a person was killed in the ceasefire violation while several others have sustained injuries.
He added that many residential houses have also got damaged. SSP identified the slain elderly man as Mohammad Saleem, son of Ilim Deen.
Ambarkar further said that, a massive rescue operation has been launched for civilians.
The exchange of fire is going on, forces are giving a befitting reply, SSP said.
