Srinagar Feb 2: J&K Youth PDP’s Provincial President for Kashmir Er. Nazir Ahmed Yatoo Sunday castigated union budget and termed it as ‘financial farce’ and mere election stunt. In a statement he said while everyone in the country was waiting with a baited breath to see a budget of thrill and stimulus but unfortunately the government yet again came forward as big disappointment. He said it’s a travesty that luxury items consumed by rich have gone cheaper while daily requirements meant for lower and middle class have become costlier. He questioned whether this is government of rich only?. He further added that Kashmiris are not impressed by flowery phrases drawn from ancient Sanskrit texts but are rather interested to see allocations. ‘Tourism sector which is back bone of J&K’s economy has got nothing except pennies and that too at a stage when state is struggling against five month long shutdown since august 5th. Nazir Yatoo questioned union government on Kisan Bima and slashing it down by 35% , incompletion of railway from Katra , unemployment, fate of medium scale industries and unprecedented rupees thirty thousand crore as opposed to eighty thousand last year. Yatoo further added that it’s a tragedy that hospital & railway infrastructure is being planned to be privatisated under private public partnership mode. He warned such policies borrowed from neo liberal market philosophy will render millions of poor people out of way and further marginalise poor in a country like India.
