8 drivers booked, vehicles seized in Poonch


Poonch, Mar 20 (GNS): Police have booked eight drivers and seized their vehicles in Poonch for violation of DM’s order that barred the movement of public transport in wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

A police officer said that for proper implementation of DM’s order, the police constituted several squads headed by SHO Poonch Nishant Gupta and DySP HQrs Mudassir Hussain under the supervision of AdSP Poonch Farooq Qaiser and SSP Poonch Ramesh K Angral.

The said squad laid nakas at various roads and also conducted patrolling in different areas, he told GNS, adding that eight vehicles that were found plying on road were intercepted and seized.

The drivers of all these vehicles have been booked in a case FIR 50/20 under Section 188 IPC, the officer said.

Meanwhile, the officer said on the directions of SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral, a team under the supervision of DYSP Surankote Javid Iqbal Tabassum along with SHO Surankote today found 12 vehicles violating the orders and challaned in different sections of Motor Vehicle Act.

“Public at large is advised to follow the guidelines that are being issued from time to time regarding corona threat. All the Drivers of vehicles also briefed about the order passed by the DM Poonch and also warned to obey orders of administration strictly otherwise ready to face stern action under different provisions of Law,” he added
