Many employees never visited home since past over two weeks, provide ration kits to non-locals, pregnant lady under quarantine gets special care

Srinagar, Mar 30: Bashir Ahmad Kanna, is one among the hundreds of employees who are fighting against the deadly Coronavirus on the frontline in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), some among these employees have not even visited their homes from last two weeks, since the outbreak of virus in the newly carved Union Territory.

Wearing protection gear, Kanna along with other employees from Revenue department in Srinagar was busy in serving the people who are under quarantine in the summer capital of the Union Territory.

In Tehsil South of Srinagar, there are at least 20 quarantine centers where nearly 850 persons especially students are put under quarantine. They arrive Kashmir from different parts of Kashmir mostly.

The employees have been fighting on the frontline to ensure every basic facility to provided to the people who are under quarantine. Kanna said that everything including toothpaste, tooth brush, soap, shampoo, breakfast, lunch and other things being used in day-to-day life are being provided to the people under quarantine.

Besides, the sanitary pads and other facilities too have been made available for the girl quarantines at the centres, he said, adding that a pregnant lady is also under quarantine and she is getting a special care at the centre.

Kanna, who is serving the quarantines along with many other officials including Sabdar Hussain, Rouf Ahmad and others, said that special arrangements have been put in place for the pregnant lady and a doctor has also been deputed for her round-the-clock.

He added that the doctors have also been made available for the other quarantines, but due to pregnancy, the lady is getting special care at one of the quarantine centres.

Not only the men, but the lady employees too have been working hard at this juncture, Tesildar South, Rabia who is also monitoring the situation under jurisdiction and visit every quarantine centre in these days.

Rabia said that she usually reach home at 12 in the night during these days and visit all the quarantine centres throughout the day to ensure people get every basic facility, made available by the district administration headed by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.

She said that she mostly visit the quarantine centres where girls have been put to see whether they are in need. “It’s our duty to serve the people. But, at this juncture, people needs us the most and we won’t leave any stone unturned to assist or people,” Rabia added.

Asked about the complaints of people regarding poor arrangements for them at these centres, Rabia said, the people are getting every basic facility and those who are leveling such allegations don’t want to stay in the quarantine centres.

She added that besides assisting the people at quarantine centres, they have so far provided relief to at least 400 non-locals in her jurisdiction from last two days, adding that the non-locals are being provided ration kits which include rice, oil, tea, salt and other things.

“We will provide ration kits to each and every non-local and won’t leave any one especially the outsiders to suffer at this juncture,” she said, adding that the services are being provided on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, who is personally monitoring the situation round-the-clock
