Srinagar, 12 March: Senior PDP Leader Er Nazir Ahmed Yatoo has expressed shock over the plight of commuters who travel by Srinagar- Jammu highway. In a statement, issued to Fastkashmir said, “ The highway has become death trap for people and all government seems to be doing is to watch people dying mutely”. Yatoo called for an end to this culture of silence on part of administration and facilitate both short term and long term solutions to fix this intractable problem. Yatoo further said that in Kashmir human loss has garnered social and administrative sanctity due to conflict and various social and religious institutions have remained invested in this pitiful state. Yatoo hoped that recent deaths shame our emotions and we claim stake in ending this highway malaise.
Yatoo said this while visiting bereaved familie of Mishtaq nanda in anantnag Nai basti who were killed in recent accidents at RAMBAN mishap and left behind 4 kid daughters. Er.Yatoo assured them of all help till they stand there own. He appealed to government that an advance party must be started while the road is opened to do safety audit.
